Data Analysis Workshop

An introductory course to GeneChip®Exon 1.0 ST & NGS microRNA data analysis

GeneChip® Exon 1.0 ST platform changes the conventional view of transcript analysis since it allows the evaluation of the expression level of a transcript querying each exon component of the transcript.

This hands-on course is organized by B&Gu with a guest speaker from Affymetrix® and it is suitable for biologists who are new to exon arrays technology. Additionally, if you have analyzed gene expression data from Affymetrix GeneChip® IVT Arrays and would now like to do projects using GeneChip® Exon Arrays, then this workshop will enable you to perform data analysis at both the gene level and exon level.
The course will also cover some basic analysi of next generation sequencing data for quantitative evaluation of microRNA expression as well as the detection of putative microRNA target taking advantage of the availability of gene-level transcription profiles.

The course is based on the use of Affymetrix® and Bioconductor open-source software. However, R coding skill is not required since all the analyses are done using oneChannelGUI, a graphical interface to Bioconductor tools, designed for life scientists who are not familiar with R language.

Basic knowledge of microarray technology is required. Knowledge of statistics is not necessary prior to attending the course.
